Fubara won’t return as governor in Rivers, says Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has boasted that his political godson, Sim Fubara won’t return as governor in Rivers state.

Wike, while featuring on Channels TV Politics, said he would never support Fubara to achieve any political ambition in Rivers State.

Wike and Governor Fubara have been at parallel end over the political control and structure of the state.

Amid the lingering battle, the PDP governors forum had backed Fubara against the minister.

Reacting on Friday, Wike also said he had no apology for threatening “fire” in the states of governors that interfere in the crisis in Rivers State.

He accused governor Fubara of lying against him, saying he (Wike) asked him for N20 billion and N100 billion, respectively.

When asked if he will support Fubara in 2027, Wike said: “I will never support Fubara in my political life again. No, I won’t do that. That’s why people should know me, I am not a man who deals with left hand. I will never do that, and everybody knows me.

“It’s not about me. People laboured to put up a structure. He wouldn’t have even taken the 5th position. People laboured. I sacrificed to talk to several people. He turned it that I am asking for N20 billion, N100 billion. He turned up lies against me. I brought him up, put him there, pushed him there. Today, Wike is over demanding.”

On the PDP governors who declared their support for Fubara, the FCT Minister, said” Let me repeat without any apologies to anybody that if they interfere in our politics, I will deal with them.

“Heaven will never fall, in fact; if heaven falls there will be peace.

“You mean as I sit as FCT Minister from Rivers State, the only person I can say I have no relationship with is the governor of Zamfara, I don’t know him; if I see him now I won’t know him.

“I know all other governors and they know me and we have a relationship. You mean you want to violate the processes and constitution of our party.

“After your meeting, you came out on national television as chairman of the forum to read a communique that their brother in Rivers state – whether legal or not – and I’m sitting as FCT Minister from that state listening, and you expect me to fold my arms because you are a governor?

“You look at me and tell me that? Expecting me to fold my hand for everything to be well?”
