As Nigerians continue to face unprecedented hardship, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to listen to the citizens with a view to reducing the prices of fuel and foodstuffs.
Obasanjo cautioned President Tinubu’s government about the potential repercussions if it fails to address the demands fuelling the ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.
The former president, who stated this on Friday while addressing six members of the National Assembly during a visit to his Abeokuta residence in Ogun State, advised politicians to always fulfill their electioneering promises.
The lawmakers are Abdulmalik Danga from Kogi, Usman Midala (Borno), Matthew Uwogu (Imo), Peter Aniekwe (Anambra), Kama Nkemkanma (Ebonyi) and Ugochinyere Nkemga (Imo).
They are co-sponsoring a bill proposing a single six-year presidential term with rotational presidency between the North and South.
Responding, Obasanjo argued that the debate should not center on the length of presidential terms but rather on changing the mentality of those in power.
