Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has told President Bola Tinubu to hold his federal allocation, saying the state will survive without it.
Fubara, in a viral video on social media platforms on Thursday, wondered why the courts in Nigeria had become tools in the hands of politicians.
THE PLAINTRUTH had reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja stopped the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from further releasing monthly financial allocations to the Rivers State government.
The court held that the receipt and disbursement of monthly allocations since January this year by Governor Siminalayi Fubara was a constitutional somersault and aberration that must not be allowed to continue.
However, Fubara assured that, despite the court order, his administration would continue to fulfill payments to contractors and ensure that workers receive their salaries starting tomorrow.
Furthermore, he confirmed that allocations for the 23 Council Chairmen would be processed as the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) procedures have been completed.
He said,” Without the Federal allocation, we can sustain ourselves with our IGR. The courts in Nigeria have become tools in the hands of politicians.
“I know it’s going to be challenging because they will fight back. With God on our side, we are good.
“I can tell you, they said we are not going to last for one week, we are here, we have done one year plus. We are also doing one year anniversary despite their attack.
“They have nothing against us, that’s why they are running to courts thinking thag they can stop us from working.”
