President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised affordable electricity to homes and businesses in Nigeria.
The former Lagos State Governor, who stated this in Abuja during his inaugural speech, vowed to double power generation capacity.
Besides, Tinubu also said his administration would review Naira redesign policy introduced by his predecessor.
He added that both new and old currency notes would be treated as legal tender.
“Monetary policy needs thorough house cleansing. The Central Bank must work towards a unified exchange rate.
“This will direct funds away from arbitrage into meaningful investment in the plant, equipment and jobs that power the real economy,” Tinubu stated.
On economy, Tinubu said his administration would target not less than 6 per cent Gross Domestic Product growth annually.
“Nigeria will be governed according to the rule of law; we shall defend the Nation from all forms of criminalities.
“We shall reform both our security document and architecture.
“We shall grow our Gross Domestic Product, GDP better than it is today; we target a GDP of not less than 6 per cent.
“Hope is back for Nigerians; let’s just be united, he said.
