The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned the corps members not to fall to the rumor making the rounds that it has received a directive to pay corps members a minimum wage of N70,000.
A statement on Sunday by NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, described the rumor as “absolute falsehood”.
The clarification came amidst widespread speculation and excitement among corps members over the rumored minimum wage payment.
Megwa said, “This is absolute falsehood which is far from the truth. No directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wage matters.
“Corps members already know the approved channel and mode of communication within the scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly.
“The NYSC, by this release, therefore admonishes corps members to desist from allowing mischief-makers who are set on misleading Nigerians from continuing to play on their intelligence.”
