Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, on Tuesday hit back at the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, saying he is not running against the outgoing president Joe Biden.
The 90-minute debate hosted by ABC News began at 9 p.m. ET at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
This was the first time Harris and Trump had ever met in person, just eight weeks before the Nov. 5 election.
The two candidates quickly launched into a bitter, fast-moving, energized and occasionally angry exchange.
Kamala Harris reminded her election rival Donald Trump during their debate Tuesday that he was no longer running against Joe Biden, a longstanding nemesis that the Republican frequently still criticizes despite his withdrawal.
“It’s important to remind the former president, you’re not running against Joe Biden, you’re running against me,” she said after the Democratic president came up during the prime-time ABC debate.
