The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has denied sending his supporters to set ablaze local government secretariats in Rivers State.

Wike, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, said he didn’t know those behind the burning of the secretariats.

Some suspected political thugs loyal to the former governor Wike had invaded some council areas on Monday.

Some of the local governments that were torched included Eleme, Emohua and Ikwerre local government secretariats.

Violence also erupted in Obio/Akpor LGA, where bottles were thrown during a confrontation, although the police successfully contained the situation.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara had accused the supporters of Wike to have master-minded the attacks.

Reacting, Wike said, “I did not send thugs to set ablze local government secretariats. I challenge Fubara to arrest the people behind ot instead of bringing my name into it.

“He knows who did it, let him go arrest them. He doesn’t need any panel of inquiry.”
