President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the Elections Petition Tribunal to put aside the 25% of votes requirement in the Federal Capital Territory.

He said any attempt by Tribunal to remove him as president for not winning in Abuja could lead to chaos, crisis and confusion.

In his final defense statement to tribunal obtained by THE PLAINTRUTH, Tinubu’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun, said courts had always been careful about giving extreme interpretation of the Constitution that could spark chaos on the said matter

“Our courts have always adopted the purposeful approach to the interpretation of our Constitution, as exemplified in a host of decisions.

“Any other interpretation different from this will lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature,” Mr Tinubu’s lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun said in their final defence statement to the court.
